Please read these terms carefully before using our services

Registered Location: Old Harbour Road, Spanish Town, St. Catherine, Jamaica

By accessing or using the services of Oryx Courier, you (“the Customer”) agree to be bound by the Terms and Conditions outlined below.

1. Services Provided

Oryx Courier offers international freight forwarding and local courier services, including:

  • Receipt of packages at our U.S. warehouse in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida

  • Shipment of goods from the United States to Jamaica

  • Customs clearance facilitation

  • Free pickup at designated locations

  • Optional islandwide delivery at an additional cost

Oryx Courier operates strictly as a freight forwarder and courier service provider and is not the seller, manufacturer, or importer of shipped items.

2. Customer Responsibilities

Customers are responsible for:

  • Ensuring all shipped items are legal under U.S. and Jamaican law

  • Providing accurate item descriptions, values, and recipient details

  • Complying with all Jamaica Customs Agency (JCA) regulations

  • Paying all applicable freight charges, customs duties, taxes, storage fees, and delivery fees

Oryx Courier is not liable for delays or penalties caused by inaccurate or incomplete customer information.

3. Customs Duties & Taxes

  • Jamaica’s current duty-free threshold is USD $100 (CIF value).

  • Shipments exceeding this threshold are subject to customs duties, GCT, SCT, environmental levies, or other statutory charges assessed by the Jamaica Customs Agency.

  • Oryx Courier does not control customs assessments and cannot guarantee duty-free clearance.

  • All customs-related charges must be paid in full before packages are released.

Customs regulations may change without notice.

4. Prohibited & Restricted Items

The following items are not accepted for shipment:

  • Firearms, ammunition, explosives

  • Illegal drugs or controlled substances

  • Hazardous or flammable materials

  • Counterfeit goods

  • Items prohibited by U.S. or Jamaican law

Oryx Courier reserves the right to refuse, delay, return, or surrender prohibited items to authorities without compensation.

5. Storage & Uncollected Packages

  • Customers are notified once packages are ready for pickup.

  • Free storage is provided for seven (7) calendar days after notification.

  • Storage fee of $100 per day, applies after the seventh day and continue to accrue until collection.

Abandoned Shipments

  • Packages uncollected after sixty (60) days will be deemed abandoned.

  • Abandoned shipments may be auctioned, donated, or disposed of in accordance with Jamaican law and industry standards.

  • Proceeds (if any) may be applied to outstanding balances.

  • Oryx Courier bears no obligation to compensate customers for abandoned items.

6. Insurance & Risk

  • Shipments are not insured unless explicitly stated in writing.

  • Customers ship items at their own risk.

  • Oryx Courier is not liable for loss, theft, or damage caused by:

    • Airline, shipping line, or third-party handling

    • Inadequate packaging by sellers or customers

    • Customs inspections or seizures

7. Delivery Terms

  • Pickup at designated locations is provided at no additional cost.

  • Home or business delivery is available for an additional fee.

  • Delivery timelines are estimates only and are not guaranteed.

8. Force Majeure

Oryx Courier shall not be held liable for delays, losses, or service interruptions resulting from events beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to:

  • Acts of God or natural disasters

  • Severe weather conditions

  • Government action or customs delays

  • Civil unrest, strikes, or transportation disruptions

9. Limitation of Liability

Oryx Courier’s maximum liability, if any, shall not exceed the freight charges paid for the affected shipment. Claims for indirect, consequential, or incidental damages are expressly excluded.

10. Right to Refuse Service

Oryx Courier reserves the right to:

  • Refuse service to any shipment or customer

  • Hold packages until all outstanding fees are paid

  • Amend these Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice

11. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Jamaica, and any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Jamaican courts.

12. Acceptance of Terms

Use of Oryx Courier’s services constitutes full acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
